Write for us
We welcome considered pitches about comedy as writing, performance and form. A strong proposal starts with a precise question, explains why the subject is interesting to general readers and shows what the writer would add beyond a plot summary or a simple verdict.
What to propose
Pitch an original essay, close reading, comparison or explanatory piece about comic writing, characters, satire, comic forms or performance. We are especially interested in focused ideas with a distinct angle: a particular construction, a recurring comic device or a question that opens up a work without trying to cover everything at once.
What makes a useful pitch
Tell us the central question, the likely scope and why it suits Select Comedy Review. Mention the works or examples you would discuss and how you would handle context. Keep the proposal concise and in your own words; a finished article is not needed at the pitch stage. Do not include confidential material or material you do not have permission to share.
How to send it
Send your proposal through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option, explaining that your message is a pitch. Include a short summary and any relevant writing sample details you wish to share. We cannot promise publication or a particular response time, and sending a pitch does not mean it has been accepted.
